What People Say
Most Liked
The gyros, particularly the Gyro Plate with fries, are a standout favorite among diners. At around $10, it's an incredible deal that’s both filling and delicious. People rave about the freshness of the ingredients, including crisp veggies and well-seasoned meat that is grilled to perfection. Their steak tacos have received positive nods for their flavor explosion, while the deep-fried offerings provide that comfort food satisfaction many crave. Late-night visits reveal a special charm, with customers noting the food tends to taste even better as the night progresses – some claim 1:30 AM is the 'sweet spot' for peak flavors! Friendly service and the vibrant background music create an inviting atmosphere that encourages repeat visits.
Most Disliked
Some customers have pointed out inconsistencies with certain dishes, such as the super fries, which have been described as having poorly tasted, freezer-burned meat on occasion. While many items shine, feedback suggests occasional dips in quality, reminding diners to consider timing when visiting. The waitlist during peak hours can be challenging, especially on busy weekends when the crowd swells, leading to longer wait times for food. Despite the casual atmosphere, the restroom facilities are reported to be basic, which may set some preferences for those looking for more upscale surroundings. While most people leave satisfied, there’s a sentiment of 'hit or miss' that reflects the nature of fast food restaurants in a busy area like this.

Very small but big things come in small packages!! Food is good exactly for 1 time this month. My super fries had freezer burned tasting meat. I willing to give 1 more try with them. I hope they check the meat this time. Not acceptable.

Hadn’t been in a while. They changed their tacos. They definitely stepped up their game.I liked them then. But now it’s even better. They also added corn and potatoes to their rice. Good moves👍🏾

After a long night of DoorDashing around Chicago and heading back home to Gary with my sister, we decided to stop for some food. I found Gyros Express on 1814 Chicago Rd through Google Maps, and even though it was dark out and not much was going on in the area, the place felt solid. It was clean, had music playing in the background, and was still open—which was a major plus since they stay open until 2AM. The prices really surprised me in a good way. Compared to other gyro spots where a gyro plate can run you over $15, here it was only around $10 + tax. I ended up getting the gyro plate with fries, and it only cost around $16 total. Honestly, I probably would’ve been better off skipping the fries since they weren’t seasoned or anything, but they worked fine when eaten with the gyro and sauce. The food itself was really good, fresh veggies, tasty and well-cooked meat, and warm soft pita bread. Everything hit the spot after a long shift. If I’m ever back in Chicago late at night, I’m definitely coming back here. This spot might just be my new go-to!
